My Dad wanted to remove the bumper from the front of his truck. All the bolts holding it on are metric. Rather than asking for the use of someone elses' tools he decided to cut the bolts off with his torch and replace them with standard US Bolts.
He pulled the truck into the Shop. Removed the Left front wheel, and proceeded to cut the bolts off. It all started just fine. Do you wonder where we are goimg with this commentary?
First he noticed that some of the sparks had ignited his coat and he was on fire, so he rolled out from under the truck to try and remove his coat. While in the process of trying to take the coat off without getting burned he realized the front of his truck was also on fire. The left front wheel is off so there is no way to pull the truck out of the shop. At this point he ran for the water hose all the while trying to remove his jacket because it was melting. It took a little while to get the water because all the hoses had been removed for the winter and rolled up, lucky for us it was close by the faucet. The jacket is off, hose is attached, water is on and he runs with the hose, to the shop door, flames have engulfed the front of his truck and reaching the ceiling in the shop. It took a few minutes to get the flames out. He then proceeded to put the wheel back on the truck so it could be pulled out of the shop, stopping three times to again put the flames out.
Today,Dad and his very good friend, Mark Korous, owner of Intermountain Collison, Made the rounds of some of the Junk yards in Salt Lake County. They made some good finds, a Bumper, all the front end wiring harnesses, Head lights and frames, Signal lights and the grill frame. No Grill but Dad says they are not very expensive to replace if he has to buy new. Maybe tomorrow we will take the truck to Mark's shop. (Where they don't use the torch without someone on fire and safety watch). Dad has become one of Marks valued customers. We as a family are very grateful for Mark and his handywork on Dads vehicles.

Wow I can't believe the damage, and fast working of your dad! Good friends are wonderful.
So glad everyone made it out safe and that it wont be too much to fix. I will remember torches and cars don't go together.
Mandy just told us what happened. How scary...From the pictures it looks like it was pretty bad. I'm glad Glade is Ok. He is one lucky guy.
