We reached one of those milestones today that none of us look forward to. It's not the fact that he is getting older or that he understands better what timeout means! It is that he now does not cry the entire time he is in timeout, he does not pout nor does he beg for forgiveness. No! now he has started sitting there with a smug expression on his face waiting for the timer to go off so he can run out and play. He used to say things like "I will never hit my sister again" or "I will do it the first time you tell me" and sometimes just :I am so sorry, can I have a hug when timeout is over." But that has come to an end, and at the early age 5. It is certainly a good thing that I love him as much as I do, but dicipline might have to include punishment for the smug look while in the timeout chair! Maybe 5 and 1/2 minutes because he did say when asked, "I am 5 and a half so I get 5 minutes of timeout~"

TIME OUT
